Self-care for Black Women

Let me just say—this book came right on time. Self-Care for Black Women isn’t trying to be deep or complicated—it’s straight to the point and full of reminders that we, as Black women, don’t have to earn rest. We don’t have to prove we’re strong to deserve softness.
It breaks down 150 ways to pour into yourself—emotionally, physically, and spiritually. And what I really appreciated is how real and doable the tips are. Some books talk at you… this one felt like it was written with us in mind. Like sis knew what burnout looked like, what emotional exhaustion felt like, and how hard it is to even slow down sometimes.
This isn’t one of those self-care books full of fluff. It’s more like, “Hey girl, here’s what you can do today—even if you only have 5 minutes.” Whether it’s practicing boundaries, reconnecting with joy, or learning how to sit still without guilt… it’s a gentle nudge to start showing up for yourself like you do for everybody else.
If you’re in a season of healing, re-centering, or trying to just find yourself again after always being “the strong one”—this book is a must. It’s not perfect, but it’s affirming. And it’s a solid start for those of us finally choosing us.
